M.A.W. Charity Events is hosting a Street Fighter V tournament to fight blot clots. On Saturday, April 9th, together with Ignite s Gaming Lounge in Chicago, IL, you have the chance to fight for a very good cause, while fighting others in one-on-one virtual combat. You have to admit, it sounds pretty cool. M.A.W. Charity Events was founded in 2015, in memory of Manu Ajamu Williams, who died unexpectedly and tragically from a mistreated blood clot. This charity wants to fight blood clots by raising money for ClotCare, a charity that raises money for the treatment of blood clots. Get your game on with the super-hyped Street Fighter V, and help raise money for a good cause while destroying your opponents.

There’s a huge prize pool, there will be free food, casual gaming (you don’t have to compete!), and it’s Street Fighter V! What better game to play while fighting for a good cause than the newest chapter of the classic fighting game that we grew up with and love? Aside from the venue fees, marketing, and other few small expenses required to actually host the event, all other proceeds will go directly to charity. If you’re in Chicago, your schedule is open on April 9th, and you have a few extra bucks, go to this event! You were probably just going to be playing video games anyway, so why not do it for a good cause, and compete against other gamers for glory and a cash prize? Even if you lose, you will be donating to an important charity, and if you win, you’re also getting something out of it! Just for entering, you get a copy of Street Fighter V! Basically you’re buying the game. Also free at the venue will be food, chair massages, event swag, an event badge with a lanyard, and free raffle tickets. Seriously, just come. They’re making it so worth it, charity aside.

A few things you should know before entering:

  • The event starts at 11am. Don’t stay up all night practicing and button mashing only to sleep in the next day.

  • You should really bring your own controller. There will be a few provided, but seriously, bring your own arcade stick or control pad. The platform that you’ll be playing on is PC, so bring one that is compatible. No wireless controllers.

  • No refunds, so if you can’t make it after all, the venue will allow you to hand off your ticket to someone else.

  • You’ve got to be 18 or have a parent’s permission to enter.

  • The prize pool is $1500. 1st Place gets $900, 2nd Place gets $450, and 3rd Place gets $150 (still not bad!)

  • You don’t have to compete to donate! Any donations can be made to ClotCare, and you can visit their website if you just want to know more about it.

  • The event will be livestreamed on twitch.tv, so even if you can’t go, you can watch, and maybe even throw down some money if you’re into e-sports betting.

M.A.W. Charity Events are following the example of Child’s Play, another charity organization that allows gamers to come together and make a positive impact. You can purchase tickets at eventbright.com, or at the door.
