100 Thieves vs FlyQuest

Next up, we have a clash that is downright impossible to predict with confidence: FlyQuest vs. 100 Thieves. Now, on paper, FlyQuest is obviously stronger -- there's no doubt about it. But in actuality, the majority of the LCS is differentiated (skill-wise) by the slimmest of margins. They're also painfully inconsistent as well, so even if team A is stronger hypothetically than team B, that doesn't necessarily have to reflect in the final result. For example, Team SoloMid had multiple 0-2 weeks and yet they're definitely the second best team in the region. This is by no means an extreme example, but rather the norm.

The only team that has consistently been strong is Cloud9. Everyone else struggled from the very get-go, and they're still fighting to figure out an identity and call it their own. That's the vast majority of the LCS in a nutshell. FlyQuest and 100 Thieves are no exception, although they do differ quite a bit. FlyQuest had higher highs and their lows weren't as abysmal. 100 Thieves, on the other hand, tend to pop off when you'd least expect it, so it really feels like this game is a toss-up.

FlyQuest are entering this match-up with a lot more hype and momentum after outclassing Immortals in about twenty-six minutes yesterday. It was as clean a showing as possible -- commanding, proactive, and basically perfect. Sure, Immortals aren't the hardest challenger around, but they're far from a pushover. Still, they're painfully inconsistent and they do have games when they fall apart for no apparent reason. Yesterday, for example, was one such instance. They were passive from the moment they spawned on the Rift, and FlyQuest really didn't do much nor were they challenged at any one point in the game. It felt like they just waltzed into Immortals' base and took whatever they wanted.

100 Thieves, on the other hand, will put up a much bigger fight, if anything because they have Ssumday in the top lane, one of the most talented individuals in the entire league. The rest of the team stepped up immensely as well, and are playing like a well-oiled machine. It feels like everyone's still thinking of the 100 Thieves from the start of the split whenever they're doing predictions, but it's understandable given how they showed little to no improvement for weeks. They're not exactly a world class team but they have what it takes to compete for a spot in the playoffs. In many ways, if they could get a win here they would solidify their spot in the Top 6. Losing isn't exactly the end all be all, but it does complicate things going forward.

FlyQuest, on the other hand, doesn't have to win, but if they do, they'll keep their spot in the standings safe and secure. If they manage to end the regular portion of the split in second place right behind Cloud9, that would do wonders for their momentum coming into the playoffs. This is by no means a do or die kind of situation which should allow them to play without any pressure. In any case, expect a fairly entertaining scrap.
