100 Thieves vs Team Dignitas
For our first match of the day we have a rather uninspired clash between 100 Thieves and Team Dignitas. Now, this isn't exactly the kind of match-up that'll make your mouth water, but it's still an interesting one regardless, especially after witnessing Dignitas trade heavy blows with Cloud9 yesterday.
It wasn't a showing anyone expected, really, even when we factor in Cloud9's recent performance. But against all odds, Dignitas found a way to compete on even footing with the defending champions, even though they only have a few wins to their name. They are, without a doubt, one of the worst teams that North America has to offer, but they didn't look like it mere hours ago. With Dardoch pulling out the very first Lilia pick in competitive and Johnsun having a mind-blowing performance on Ashe, Dignitas managed to take C9 to the brink of defeat before ultimately fumbling in true Dignitas late game fashion. They might be out of the playoffs, but they have no intention of slowing down. They want any amount of redemption they can get, and they're willing to fight their hearts out on the Summoner's Rift, even though it's all in vain.
100 Thieves, on the other hand, are still as elusive and hard to read as ever. Still, they're better than Dignitas in almost every single way, especially when they draft to their strengths and give Ssumday all the agency that this Korean top lane legend deserves. They're pretty much a shoo-in for the playoffs (remember, there are eight spots this year with the Regional Qualifier being a thing of the past), but they want to rank as high as possible in order to have an easier time through the playoffs. They're also in dire need of some momentum after only stringing wins against other bottom-tier dwellers. They want to separate themselves from the rest of the pack and to do so, they need to make a statement. Fortunately, they're well-equipped for the job, even though they might not always look like it.
They're the favorites against Team Dignitas, although in the broader LCS picture that means very little seeing how these two teams are separated by the slimmest of margins. Still, 100 Thieves have more tools to work with and if they double down on their strengths and start off on the right foot, they shouldn't have too big of a problem in taking Dignitas down. That said, there are no safe bets in the LCS right now, so proceed with caution!
