Atlanta Reign vs Los Angeles Gladiators
Let's focus on the Western region for a moment. It's not necessarily any more layered but it *is* a bit more hectic -- for better or worse. We're still struggling to understand who's good and why as everyone's power level seems to be shifting on a weekly basis. That's not really a good thing, what with the Summer Showdown being right around the corner, but it is what is it.
The Los Angeles Gladiators and the Altanta Reign are, as expected, still amongst the best and most capable teams in the Overwatch League. They're not, however, on the same level performance- and talent-wise. LAG are about as layered and dangerous as they come. The Reign, on the other hand, are more of a gatekeeper. They're astonishingly feisty, there's no denying it, but they *do* tend to drop the ball at the most random of moments. Such tendencies are reflected on their overall record as well.
They've been both hot and cold, with some truly impressive highs and wholly abysmal lows. Losing to the Boston Uprising and the Toronto Defiant, for instance, is not something that can be justified for a team with such lofty aspirations. Much of the same can be said for the Gladiators as well, but they *have*, in all fairness, been ever so slightly more consistent. They, too, have lost more games than they should've but are nonetheless more experienced and, well, talented, when compared to their forthcoming opponents.
That doesn't necessarily mean they'll come out on top, but the odds are definitely stacked in their favor. For LAG, it's time to step up and make a statement, and getting a win over Atlanta would do just that.
