Chengdu Hunters vs Seoul Dynasty
This is where things get interesting (to say the least). Seoul Dynasty vs. Chengdu Hunters is without a doubt an exceptional match-up between two insanely talented line-ups, both of which have what it takes to get their hands raised. The gap between them — assuming it even exists in the first place — is fairly negligible, and it'll all boil down to who prepares better and makes fewer egregious mistakes.
The most interesting thing, however, is the fact that no one saw this coming — we're talking about a hugely perplexing status quo. Coming into 2021, most folks had Chengu ranked outside of the Top 15. That was their presumed power level and it felt like a fairly correct assessment, given whom they had competing under their banner. Now sure: fluctuations can always occur, but no one thought Chengdu could subvert our expectations *this much.* We're talking about a night and day difference. The fashion in which they entered the season left no one indifferent, and they've been able to find a metric ton of success thus far, despite facing some incredibly stiff competition.
After outclassing both the Los Angeles Valiant and the Shanghai Dragons in week one, they proceeded to clean sweep the New York Excelsior before succumbing to the Philadelphia Fusion who, in all fairness, are arguably the best team in the Overwatch League right now. With three wins on the board (two of which came against incredibly talented opponents), Chengdu are rightfully deemed as a top-tier contender — one that can pack a serious punch.
Seoul, however, aren't ones to trail behind. They've been every bit as dominant and commanding and, in fact, hold the exact same record. And, much like Chengdu, their sole defeat came at the hands of Philly, a result that surprised no one whatsoever. So both Chengdu and Seoul share much of the same narrative — they've beaten (nearly) the same teams and have lost to a titan that is basically a shoo-in for the 2021 Overwatch League finals. So how do we go about this whole thing? Who's favored, and why? Frankly put, predicting the outcome of this one match with any kind of confidence feels nigh impossible. It is a fool's errand, in a way, because it can truly go either way.
Both Seoul and Chengdu are seemingly equal in terms of strength, and even though the Dynasty has noticeably more experience, this one fact — important though it is — doesn't necessarily mean they'll be able to get the win.
In the end, we'll side with Chengdu on this one. The odds are simply too alluring not to go with the underdogs, although, to be fair, if you're looking for a safe bet you'd be wise to look elsewhere. These two teams are separated by the slimmest of margins and they both have a shot at getting the "w." This is the very definition of a "toss-up!"
