CLG vs 100 Thieves
Finally, to close out the day, we have a rather uneventful finale: 100 Thieves vs. Counter Logic Gaming. Now, it's not just uneventful because it's a one-sided beatdown in the making, but also because CLG will compete without their intended starting line-up. Watching a team that was assembled last-minute isn't exactly what constitutes "fun."
Still, it'll be an interesting skirmish regardless of the broader picture. CLG still have Pobelter, WildTurtle, and Smoothie to work with, so they'll probably put up a fight in the early game. And, frankly, we're mentioning the early game here specifically because they're all but guaranteed to fall off come mid and late. That's just Counter Logic Gaming's inherent nature, and that won't change any time soon with Solo and Griffin as substitutes. The latter of the two, in particular, has been downright dreadful in their opening match, as was to be expected. We already knew that Griffin wasn't an LCS-caliber player, and that fact has only further been solidified by his first outing of 2021. CLG simply doesn't have the necessary tools to compete at the highest of levels, and that especially holds true at the time of this writing when they're forced to compete with two subsstitutes.
100 Thieves, on the other hand, are looking like bona fide champion material, if their first game against Team SoloMid is anything to go by. Heck, they demolished and outclassed the boys in black and white like it was nothing. And, better yet, they made it look *easy.* Like a walk in the park, rather than a match-up against some of the best players the LCS to offer. And they got the win with such staggering ease because of their pre-existing synergy. They've entered 2021 in full force and are surely looking to continue dominating. A win over Counter Logic Gaming doesn't really get the blood pumping, but it's a win nonetheless, and they'll take it. Simply put, they're better than CLG in literally each and every role, and it's not even a competitive affair. They're stronger individually, they have more synergy as a five-man unit, and they don't plan on slowing down any time soon.
In the end, we'll side with 100 Thieves on this one as it's the only logical option. CLG might make it *somewhat* competitive early on, but sooner or later they'll make an egregious error and 100 Thieves will capitalize big time. Still, we should be in for an entertaining, skirmish-heavy game, so there's definitely a reason to tune in!
