Cloud9 vs FlyQuest

Next up, for our third match of the day, we have a very interesting clash between Cloud9 and FlyQuest. Now, let's get one thing clear: most people will tune in solely because of Cloud9, and that's perfectly fine. No one's quite sure what to think of the boys in black and blue, but we'll all tune in with great interest precisely to find out.

Simply put, the former 2020 LCS Spring Split champions were pretty much embarrassed by Evil Geniuses yesterday. Heck, it wasn't even a remotely competitive affair. Instead, it looked like a clash between a cohesive five-man team and a bunch of solo queue randoms. Cloud9, frankly, didn't do anything right, and that's quite a surprise. Now sure, they brought over two entirely different players which has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on their synergy, but they should've still looked better. These are some of the best and most revered players in North America, two of which have already etched their names in competitive League history. Perkz is arguably the greatest Western player of all time and Zven, a legend in his own right, is the only player in history who held both the LEC and LCS titles at some point during his career. These are no rookies, they're not amateurs nor Academy-level rejects or wannabe pros -- they're bona fide legends or, at the very least, experienced veterans with very little left to prove.

So what gives? How could've they looked so darn bad? It wasn't even *remotely* competitive. Was EG just that good, or was it a mix of both? No one's quite sure what to think, and we're dying to find out whether that was just a one-off kind of thing, or a sign that there's trouble over in the C9 camp. There are many question marks at this point in time, and the outlook isn't all that bright. Of course, it was just a single game -- during a tournament that carries no significance whatsoever -- but it was still packed with unforced errors, individual mistakes, and very little team-wide cohesion. Nothing to commend them for, or to point out as a potential strength going forward. In that sense, Cloud9 need to build momentum and they need to do it fast. A couple of losses (especially lopsided ones) can heavily affect team morale (not to mention one's own psyche) and getting a win tonight against a still-burgeoning FlyQuest shouldn't be all that hard.

In fact, it's a must. Fortunately, they're well equipped for the task at hand. They have all the right weapons and players to not only win against FlyQuest but even do so in quite one-sided fashion. But the margin for error is not as big as we initially believed. Cloud9 will need to deliver, not just for their fans but for their own sake as well. In any case, it'll be an interesting clash that'll provide us with an additional look into both teams and their current power level.
