Dallas Fuel vs Florida Mayhem

For our third match of the day we have a somewhat interesting clash between the Florida Mayhem and the Dallas Fuel. It's not an important match by any stretch of the imagination, in fact it is completely worthless in regards to the standings and playoff implications. The winner won't be getting any bragging rights either as it's a fight between the tenth and eleventh team in the League.

Still, these games mean the world to the players involved and getting a bit of momentum or confidence is nothing to scoff at especially knowing the amount of effort and hard work they put in day-in and day-out.

Florida are entering week four with a pretty unimpressive 1-5 record over the last three weeks. Their only win came at the expense of the Shaghai Dragons however it should be noted that they actually brought the fight to many top tier teams - even taking Boston Uprising to five maps. That's been the leitmotif of their run in the Overwatch League so far - a lot of potential, a lot of individual outplays and moments of brilliance but never enough to accrue a winning streak or any concrete momentum.

Perhaps the biggest upgrade they made so far was introducing Sayaplayer in the DPS role. Even though Logix had a couple of incredible games he is no longer on the starting roster which speaks volumes about just how well Sayaplayer's been performing on a plethora of champions. He's low-key becoming an incredible threat, especially on Widowmaker as he's been able to not only go blow-for-blow with some of the best hit-scan players in the League but even outperform the majority of them. Paired with Tviq who can play a plethora of DPS heroes himself and you get a very capable and threatening DPS duo. Logix made a quick appearance on Route 66 against Shanghai last week however and reminded everyone that his skills on Tracer can only be paralleled by two or three individuals in the League. With more than a dozen eliminations, final blows and zero deaths against a fiesty Shanghai roster was exactly the biggest edge Florida had that night and it paid off in a sensational full hold.

As for Dallas Fuel even though they had a couple of good moments last week it was much of the same. Things won't get any better unfortunately as EFFECT - arguably their biggest catalyst and best performer over the last couple of weeks - left the US and went to Korea for undisclosed reasons. Whether he needed a break or not doesn't really change a lot seeing how he was the biggest reason why Dallas managed to stay somewhat competitive over the last stage or two.

The Fuel will instead be starting with AKM and Seagull as their DPS duo which is... unfortunate. While AKM showed some fantastic play on Soldier 76 he failed to leave a mark on any other pick. (especially not on his meme-worthy Genji play) Seagull on the other hand started off as a DPS main but was quickly forced into the flex tank position. (a change he embraced wholeheartedly and had moderate success in) It will be interesting to see just how well they will be able to perform overall as even though they cover a good variety of DPS heroes they don't have anyone on Tracer or Widowmaker which could make every map a nightmare.

Because of this we're going with Florida. While it might not be an easy match they do have the tools to outclass this weakened Dallas roster and overtake them in the standings. It's not much for the Mayhem but it's a start.

The thing with Florida is - even though they failed to leave their mark on the Overwatch League (so far) they never stand back from a challenge. They always bring their "A game" and even though it's mostly not enough they fight for ever meter of every map. They're also highly skilled individually and even though their teamwork doesn't shine that often they do have moments of brilliance.

Those moments of brilliance should be more than enough to take down Dallas.
