Dallas Fuel vs Seoul Dynasty
For our third match of the day we have a fairly interesting clash between Seoul Dynasty and the Dallas Fuel. Now many people will glance of this match-up and not give it much thought, but the odds are perhaps a bit more closer than most people think.
As with many matches this week, certain maps and games matter more to certain teams and Seoul is definitely one of them. They're once again aiming for the Stage 3 playoffs but - much like the first two times around - they didn't start off as they wanted. They were outclassed on all fronts by the Los Angeles Valiant last week in 0-4 fashion. While their quick 4-0 domination over the San Francisco Shock a couple of days later did lessen the punch for Seoul fans there are still many questions in the air and Seoul is doing very little to silence their critics.
There are two very important problems that they're facing right now and they're obviously not something that can be fixed over night. For starters they seemingly can't fixate on a single roster and they often choose to field a less than stellar starting lineup - last week it was Gido and Gambler and while it's nice of them to give their "B tier" duo some playtime as well Seoul simply cannot give up maps that they should be winning. Their decision making is simply mind-boggling and they're showing no signs of stopping.
Secondly - teams started adapting more as the weeks went by and they're now starting to focus Fleta almost consistently. They know that with him out of the picture, Seoul doesn't have an answer. Munchkin is a very solid Tracer in general but he just doesn't carry as Fleta. Pair that with an underperforming tank duo and you get a struggling Seoul that isn't looking that good in general - for quite some time now.
Overall there is a ton of potential within this Seoul team but they simply aren't reaching right now.
The road to redemption and greatness starts here, and with Dallas on the opposite side, Seoul has the chance to get back into playoff contention. Dallas managed to pull off a 3-1 win over the Shanghai Dragons last week but they didn't look too impressive against a freshly assembled roster. Fortunately they're getting their newest addition in the main tank department OGE this week so their play should improve at least for a bit. They're simply not making the right decisions overall, they're not performing well as a team nor as individuals and even though they show flashes of brilliance here and there it's too infrequent.
As for this match-up specifically, we're going with the Dynasty. That said, Seoul is far from a safe bet overall. They're incredibly inconsistent and Dallas has shown glimpses of improvement so they're surely looking to upset. If they start off strong they could make this a very competitive match that could in theory go the distance but if they don't manage to shut down Fleta from the very get go then they're in for a quick loss.
