Florida Mayhem vs London Spitfire

For our second match of the day we have a somewhat interesting match-up between the London Spitfire and the Florida Mayhem.

This match essentially doesn't matter - at all. Florida is out of the season playoffs and they don't have a chance of reaching the stage playoffs either, whereas London are essentially locked in.

Speaking of the Spitfire, they had a pretty crushing week four as they failed to win against either Los Angeles team. They had the upper hand over the Valiant on Friday and were up one map at half-time however they could handle the Valiant resurgence in the second half of the match. They were then up 2:0 over the Gladiators on Sunday but as fate would have it - it was yet another reverse sweep.

Both games were close affairs and even though London lost we saw a ton of improvement from them. Profit and Birdring in particular played out of their minds more often than not and it was exactly the level of play that we've seen from them when the season began, all the way back to Stage 1.

They're still inconsistent but they're steadily improving. Looking at the playoff picture, things cannot get any more exciting as a stabilized, hungry London roster can upset anyone - including New York.

London are currently sitting at fourth place in the overall season standings and even though they're tied with the Gladiators and the Fusion when it comes to map win and loss record they stll have a far superior map differential (+31) and even if they do lose both their matches this week they'll be in the playoffs due to the fact that the Outlaws cannot overtake them. They're essentially locked in for sure however a win would improve their spot in the playoffs which could come in handy.

We're going with London on this one. While Florida has stepped up over the last couple of weeks, we've finally started seeing the London of old and even though they failed to sustain the same level of play and close out a couple of matches they're at least starting to play to their fullest potential and it's a joy to watch. The Mayhem might be able to make things a bit complex depending on the map pool but in the end it should go in London's favor.
