Florida Mayhem vs Paris Eternal

Yet another fairly interesting skirmish between a team that has all the right tools to compete for a spot in the Top 5 (Florida Mayhem) and another that, while undeniably talented, hasn't been all that impressive lately (Paris Eternal).

And that's strange, to say the least. Paris are also stacked with talent and potential, but they just haven't been able to perform up to expectations. Is this just a one-off thing, a short momentary detour before they're able to mount a comeback? Or a foreshadowing and a sign of the things to come? It's impossible to know at this point, but they haven't been looking all too hot, and we're putting it mildly here. Their 0-3 loss to Atlanta two days ago has us worried, and there's a good reason why. They didn't face an unstoppable force of nature nor a giant of competitive Overwatch — they faced Atlanta, a team that is barely staying afloat at this point in time. And sure, the Reign have ample potential as well, but a clean sweep is still problematic, for a wide variety of reasons.

By the same token, Florida's performances thus far were also somewhat iffy. They looked a lot better than Paris, but that's not exactly a feat worthy of praise and commendation, at least not right now. Their two wins came at the expense of Atlanta and Vancouver which, in all fairness, doesn't really get the blood pumping. Still, they've looked a lot better so it's impossible not to give them our benefit of the doubt on this one.

Then again, as with so many other match-ups in the Overwatch League right now, this is pretty much a toss-up. Both teams are inherently flawed, often out of sync, and still haven't figured out what they want to do and in which fashion. They still need a bit of time to get on the same page and mount an offensive, so expect a slew of egregious mistakes from both sides. This match could, by all means, go the distance as the gap between these two (assuming it exists in the first place) isn't nearly as big as the odds would lead you to believe.
