Florida Mayhem vs Shanghai Dragons
The fact that the Florida Mayhem have reached the Top 4 and have, therefore, secured a spot at the first Overwatch League tournament of 2021 is simply astounding. Then again, we knew they were incredibly talented and had the potential to leave a mark, but the fact that they've already risen to prominence in such a staggeringly short amount of time is worthy of the highest praise and commendation. Heck, we're putting it mildly here — they've knocked it out of the park! And the fashion in which they've done it is perhaps equally as impressive. Even if they succumb to Shanghai tonight — something that we're pretty will happen — they've already done more than enough to earn everyone's benefit of the doubt.
Unfortunately, it feels like their road has come to an end — there's just no way they're better than Shanghai Dragons, one of the most successful APAC teams in the history of the Overwatch League and also the team with the absolute most hype and momentum coming into the May Melee tournament — a by-product of their exceptional showing and subsequent 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Fusion. They're astounding, is what they are, and watching them play and perform at such a high level has truly been one of the chief delights of the 2021 season thus far.
Still, Florida never goes down without a fight. They'll fight their hearts out so an entertaining clash is all but guaranteed. Unfortunately for the Florida faithfuls, that's probably not going to be enough against a team as stacked and potent as Shanghai. Regardless, it'll give us a good enough look at what they're made of and what we can expect from them going forward. Plus, they'll get another shot at redemption seeing they're competing in a double elimination bracket!
