FlyQuest vs CLG

To close out the day we have a rather fascinating clash between the second best team in the region (FlyQuest) and a team that can rightfully be deemed as the absolute worst. So on paper, there's not much to get excited about. Then again, FlyQuest is playing some of their best League of Legends yet and Counter Logic Gaming certainly looked better and more dangerous with LCS legend Pobelter in the mid lane.

So if you're a fan of either organization, there's more than enough reason to tune in.

FlyQuest are entering this match after outclassing a fairly underwhelming Golden Guardians yesterday. It was a fairly even skirmish early on, but FLY were far more cohesive as a five-man unit which allowed them to eke out an advantage during the laning phase. They were quite apprehensive, but they never really made any mistake. Instead, they were waiting for GGS to overstep and, sure enough, they did. It wasn't the biggest statement game out there, but they were solid all around. Once FLY felt they had a big enough lead, they kicked things into overdrive and simply obliterated the Golden Guardians across the board. In many ways, it felt like GGS were putting themselves in a disadvantageous position from the beginning, with Keith once again being the biggest offender. We saw the Keith from week one and two, which is never a cause for celebration.

Still, FLY got the win and looked fairly solid in the process. They're currently in sole possession of second place which is certainly a surprise, given the amount of hype and momentum they had coming into the 2020 Spring Split. They're not perfect, but they actually have an identity to call their own and they're playing a unique brand of League of Legends. With IgNar's constant roaming and PowerOfEvil's insane play, they're poised to go deep into the season. At the moment, they're the best and most well-rounded challenger although they still have quite a lot of work to do before actually contesting Cloud9 for the number one spot.

Opposite them, we have Counter Logic Gaming. With former LCS champion Pobelter in the line-up, they actually looked a bit better against Cloud9. It was a strange game, too, as they were able to keep the undefeated C9 titans in check throughout the early game. Obviously, it was always a matter of time before they fumbled, and sure enough, they did. Still, Pobelter, to his credit, looked fairly solid and was arguably the only player on Counter Logic Gaming who was able to actually scale into the mid and late game and not lose lane in horrendous fashion.

Counter Logic Gaming, as expected, eventually succumbed to what feels like the most dominant regular season LCS team in history. That's a bold statement, for sure, but it's actually backed by statistical dominance as well. In any case, they were better as a five-man unit and with Pobelter's in-game leadership and sheer experience, they're bound to improve sooner or later.

This time, however, they're up against yet another fantastic challenger. Now sure, FlyQuest are nowhere near as consistent, talented, or capable as Cloud9, but they're deceptively strong and are rightfully considered as the favorites in this one. They might not start off that well, but you know they have solid fundamentals along with kick-ass team-wide cohesion, so they shouldn't have too big of a problem in taking Counter Logic Gaming down.
