FlyQuest vs DRX
Group D is finally here, and if it delivers even a fraction of the action we've witnessed over the last three days, it's fair to say that fireworks will be all but guaranteed. This group is fairly similar to Group B in the sense that there are two clear-cut favorites, followed by two dangerous, albeit insufficiently talented challengers. That doesn't mean FlyQuest or Unicorns of Love won't be able to trade heavy blows with the likes of Top Esports and DRX, but rather that they won't be able to deliver once it matters most.
That's always the case when we have such a mismatch in terms of strength and overall potential. Top Esports are one of the three favorites to win the whole tournament, and DRX, while nowhere near as potent and strong, are still a force to be reckoned with. So, frankly, if you're looking for top-tier competitive League and clashes that are packed with intricate, nuanced gameplay, you'd best look elsewhere -- group D is brimming with one-sided match-ups, and while they'll definitely deliver entertainment-wise, they're not going to go down in the annals of competitive League history.
Still, there's definitely a reason to tune in. FlyQuest and UoL won't go down without a fight, which means we should be in for quite a show. That said, DRX have done more than enough to earn our benefit of the doubt. FlyQuest are far from an unworthy challenger, but they have very distinct strengths and weaknesses (i.e. their top side of the map). Their one win came over the Unicorns of Love, and their games against DRX and Top -- while certainly not stomps -- were quite one-sided. Even when they kept things somewhat close, you always knew that the LPL and LCK representatives would come out on top. That, in short, should be the case here as well.
We're siding with DRX on this one as it's the only logical choice, although things will definitely be a lot closer than most people expect.
