FlyQuest vs Team Dignitas
Finally, to close out the day, we have a clash between FlyQuest and Team Dignitas. Now, frankly speaking, this is about as far from a must-watch game as you can get, but it's not without its own peculiar narratives and intriguing details. On paper, this is an extremely one-sided affair with FlyQuest being the heavy favorites. In actuality, however, things might be a bit closer than most people think.
FlyQuest have seemingly dropped off a cliff over the last two weeks and while their most egregious flaws and mistakes can technically be corrected in just a couple of days' time, it's still worrying to see them struggle this much against teams many deem far inferior. There's no obvious reason for their sudden volatility -- the meta didn't shift, they didn't make any changes to their starting line-up, and the champions they were good at are still as viable as ever. But for some unknown reason, they've all deteriorated in performance seemingly overnight. It doesn't matter whom they're up against, they'll make egregious blunders both as a team as well as individually, and it's just not something you'd expect from the second best team from Spring. FlyQuest have their problems, that's obvious, but they're definitely a top-tier contender and one of the best and most capable teams that North America has to offer. That's their current role in the region, and everyone's holding them to a higher standard. These kinds of mistakes and mind-boggling in-game decisions are not allowed if they want to keep their spot at the top and finish 2020 strong.
Fortunately, their biggest mistakes aren't tied to their opponents -- they couldn't care less if they were up against Immortals or Cloud9. PowerOfEvil, for instance, just had some of his worst games yet. If he can improve and pick up the pace, one could argue that FlyQuest will immediately look as dangerous as they did in the recent past. It's fair to expect a very motivated, highly dangerous FlyQuest to step foot on stage and compete tonight, in no small part because they're looking for a bit of redemption.
Team Dignitas, on the other hand, have just gotten their first win on the board. It was by no means a clean showing, but a win is a win, and for an organization that's struggling so darn much, they'll take it. There's just not a lot of potential within this Dignitas roster, and even though they've just gotten a bit of momentum, don't let that fool you: they're obviously one of the worst teams in North America. With so many seasoned veterans, however, they shouldn't be underestimated. They're not a top-tier behemoth by any stretch of the imagination, but they can certainly compete on even footing, at least for a little while. Regardless, they're just not as good as FlyQuest in any way, shape, and form, and even if they manage to impose their own will and start strong, it's probably not going to be enough. FlyQuest are better across the board and they have more tools to work with.
Either way, this'll be a good test for the boys in green and white. They need a dominant, clean win over Dignitas if they want to continue building hype and momentum -- not to mention redeem themselves for their most recent blunders.
