FlyQuest vs Team Dignitas

For our first match of the day we have a rather fascinating clash between Team Dignitas and FlyQuest. Now, coming into the season, neither of these two teams had a lot of hype behind them. Heck, maybe that's even an understatement.

But as things stand, both of these two challengers belong at the very top of the region. They might not be perfect, but they definitely have a head start over most of the opposition and have shown admirable play every time they stepped foot on stage to compete. FlyQuest, in particular, came as an even bigger surprise when compared to Dignitas, seeing how they were a bottom-tier dweller for the majority of 2019 Summer. But two fantastic roster changes later, and the team looks revitalized. They're currently sitting near the very top of the standings with a fairly commendable 2W-1L record, although it's fair to say that their swift loss to Team Liquid yesterday certainly hurt their stock.

To lose agains the defending champs is one thing; to lose in such one-sided fashion is a completely different matter. FlyQuest were annihilated across the board and were able to get just three meager kills on the board in their sub-thirty minute defeat against the weakened Liquid -- who are still competing without Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen by their side.

Not a lot of people expected them to win seeing how they're basically weaker in every position except the jungle, but they should've still been a bit more competitive, it feels like. Still, dropping a game against the defending champs in no way diminishes their incredible resurgence.

Dignitas, on the other hand, is coming into this match with about as much hype as humanly possible. They're one of the best teams in the region at the moment and have shown no weakness over their first three games. They're riding a ton of momentum after defeating Team Liquid on Saturday and are a bona fide titan in the making. Again, no one's quite sure what to think about Dignitas or quite what to feel. On the one hand, it's possible that they're simply capitalizing given it's the start of the season. On the other, they aren't winning through sheer aggression or mechanical prowess (not entirely, at least), but rather through intelligent team play, individual talent and a staggering amount of synergy. They're all on the same page, always engaging in a split of a second, and their team fighting is on a whole 'nother level.

Veterans like Huni, Froggen, and Aphromoo are truly prospering in this new environment, but it's Grig and Johnsun that should be getting the most praise. They didn't have a lot of hype coming into Dignitas and yet they're truly playing out of their minds. Grig has solidified his spot as a top jungler in the region just three games into the season, whereas Jonhsun's picture perfect positioning and team fightinging prowess blew the minds of many. They really are a stacked, highly talented team that can tango with the very best the LCS has to offer.

Their win over Liquid was impressive primarily because they persevered even once Liquid kicked things into overdrive. Dignitas never surrender but instead went blow for blow against an opponent many deemed superior. Watching them play is an absolute pleasure and it's impossible not to be excited for the things to come.

If they continue playing at this level there's no telling how high they'll eventually climb.

FlyQuest are no slouch, and they never go down without a fight. We can also assume that they're looking to redeem themselves after getting smacked around by Liquid for thirty minutes. Unfortunately, it feels like Dignitas should have the edge in almost every single element of play. They've simply shown more whenever they stepped foot on the Summoner's Rift and have earned everyone's benefit of the doubt.

Regardless, if FlyQuest come out the gates swinging, we should be in for one heck of a game.
