FlyQuest vs Team Liquid
To close out a very strange and upset-heavy day of competitive League, we have an absolute barnburner: Team Liquid vs. FlyQuest. This is not just a fight between two exceptional LCS teams but also a fight between two challengers who are in the running for playoffs and have, at best, a chance to represent their region at the World Championship in China come October.
There's a lot on the line, and with both teams stepping up immensely over the last couple of weeks, it's fair to say that we should be in for one heck of a ride. Liquid is obviously favored and there's a very good reason why that's the case: they have more synergy, they've been stringing wins left and right over the last couple of weeks and are currently tied for first place with none other than Cloud9. That, in itself, is quite a surprise given the fact that they were ranked ninth mere weeks ago -- a testament to their work ethic, mental fortitude, and overall resilience. They're all playing much better individually as well, with Jensen, Impact, and CoreJJ performing as well as they did back in their heyday. Watching them run circles around their opposition has been an absolute treat, and we're finally starting to see the return of the championship-worthy Team Liquid. They're not perfect, of course, but they've made huge strides performance-wise and have gotten better and better as the weeks went on.
FlyQuest, on the other hand, are quite hot and cold. No one's quite sure which shade of FLY will come out on stage and play -- the subdued, out of sync one, or the ultra aggressive, high variance FlyQuest that's unrelenting in nature. Either way, their games are often fun to watch and they certainly have all the right tools which are necessary to not only reach the playoffs but also even lock down a ticket for Worlds. That's quite a big goal and they'll face an uphill battle to get there, but we're well aware of their potential and they've earned everyone's benefit of the doubt, even though they haven't performed as well as everyone expected coming into Summer.
Either way, we're siding with Team Liquid on this one but it is by no means an easy game to predict. Still, with multiple former World Champions on their roster, two Western legends, and an up-and-coming marksman who's currently a Top 3 performer in his role, Team Liquid shouldn't have too big of a problem in taking FlyQuest down. It might not be clean or commanding, but they should be able to get the job done.
