FlyQuest vs Team Liquid

Talk about an interesting match-up! On paper, Team Liquid are better in every which way. In actuality, though, this will probably be a lot closer than most folks expect. FlyQuest are not to be trifled with and they actually have a puncher's chance, so if you're looking for any sort of "safe" bet, you'd be wise to look elsewhere.

Neither team has been particularly consistent, which means that predicting the outcome of this particular game is pretty much nigh impossible. Liquid obviously have more tools to work with, but that won't mean much if they don't get on the same page and execute as well as they need to. They've struggled mightily thus far and they don't have much of an identity either — they're just a bunch of solid players who are meandering through the Rift and trying their hardest. Without Alphari, they can no longer compete through the top lane and with Tactical being so darn inconsistent, bot lane isn't much of an option either. Jensen has been great overall, but he hasn't blown anyone's mind just yet, and the same goes for Santorin as well. Now, make no mistake: they're still one of the best teams in North America, but they're much more flawed and vulnerable than anyone could've anticipated coming into the second half of 2021.

FlyQuest, on the other hand, have had immense highs and crushing lows. They've beaten Team SoloMid and Evil Geniuses, but they've also lost to Cloud9 (a perfect game, no less) and the Golden Guardians. They're so bafflingly inconsistent, that you shouldn't even attempt to make any sense of it all. When they get on the same page and play to the best of their ability they can obviously trade blows with the who's who of the LCS. When that isn't the case, though, they're one of the worst teams in North America.

What a truly vexing duality!

In any case, we'll side with Team Liquid on this one as it's the only logical option. They might not be all that dangerous right now, but they've still done more than enough to warrant our benefit of the doubt and have all the right tools to emerge victorious over FlyQuest. How clean a game it'll be still remains to be seen, but they're favored, and there's a good reason why. That said, expect a much more competitive affair than the odds would suggest!
