FunPlus Phoenix vs Oh My God

What a strange and yet incredibly important Best of 3, one that was originally supposed to happen *weeks* ago. There's a lot on the line here, and the fact that FPX and OMG are ranked right beside other makes this whole thing *that* much more intriguing. The former World Champions have a relatively middling 7-8 record. OMG have been even worse with six wins and seven losses, but they also have three more Bo3s left to play which means they could, in theory, end up *above* FunPlus and, in doing so, lock down a ticket to the playoffs.

For OMG, this is pretty much "do or die." Well, the same goes for FPX, too, but they won't be playing with nearly as much pressure as their opponents. As if that wasn't enough, OMG have had to prepare for not one, not two, but three different opponents, all of which happen to be ranked above them. That's quite a daunting task and, well, we're not so sure if OMG are cut out to handle it. If they manage to beat FPX they would no doubt generate a bit of much-needed momentum, but they're not favored here and, well, it's easy to understand why.

They are by no means a bad team but they *do* pale in comparison to a good number of their most capable peers. To their credit, they *did* take games off of numerous high-ranked opponents (BLG, LGD, V5, WBG), but that doesn't really mean much overall seeing how they weren't able to go the "whole nine yards." Winning a single game within a Best of 3 is nice, but also wholly insignificant. It's a consolation prize that is pretty much worthless.

FPX are the better team on paper but that doesn't mean they'll get the win. They've struggled a lot more than we thought they would and, well, a spot in the playoffs is by no means guaranteed. Still, we have faith in their ability to persevere, even though our trust hasn't exactly been *earned.* They've been pretty volatile ever since their stellar showing at the 2021 Demacia Cup, but at least we know they have it in them. Will they put their best foot forward and make a statement? We'll find out soon enough.
