G2 Esports vs exceL
Next up, we have a fairly interesting fight between the defending champion G2 Esports and a team that is literally on the brink of missing out on the playoffs. This isn't necessarily a must watch, but both teams should entertain us quite a bit.
G2 Esports is always down to tango regardless of the state of the game, whereas Excel needs to pull off a miracle upset if they want to stand a chance of reaching Top 6. This is pretty much a recipe for absolute bloodshed and immediate skirmishing, so there's more than enough reason to tune in.
Obviously, we all know the outcome (barring any monumental upset), but watching things unfold to that point should still be a lot of fun. The fact that both teams find themselves in vastly different positions is what makes this whole match-up that much more exciting. G2 Esports don't have to win, but they still want to build momentum coming into the playoffs and have a statement game. Excel, on the other hand, needs to show us something -- anything at all, but it has to happen right now otherwise their Spring Split is basically over.
For G2, this is basically an auto-pilot kind of game. For Excel, however, this is do or die. The odds are heavily stacked in G2's favor, but that doesn't mean they'll take this game seriously, seeing how there's no concrete reason to tryhard. Do they proceed as planned? Or will they decide to have a bit of fun?
Seeing how this is G2 Esports we're talking about, there's a small chance they'll decide to troll and go for an unorthodox team comp, therefore hindering their chances of getting the win. That's always a possibility whenever they're involved, so betting instantly becomes a nightmare. Still, it feels like even if they start off on the wrong foot and fight from a deficit, they should still be able to capitalize on a couple of (expected) mid and late game blunders from Excel and, therefore, get the win. It's really hard to imagine any kind of scenario in which Excel execute flawlessly and take the win by surprise. So in the end, we're going with G2 on this one -- it's the only logical choice.
