G2 Esports vs FC Schalke 04
If you're a fan of competitive league, you finally have a game that's truly worth your time and attention: G2 Esports vs. Schalke 04. On the one hand, it's a clash that is bound to entertain. On the other, there's absolutely nothing on the line for either team. If G2 wins, they'll secure first place so at least they'll earn something for their efforts, although -- if history is any indication -- they don't care much for rankings or records.
Whether they're first or second doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things as they have supreme confidence in their skill and ability to bulldoze through the LEC playoffs regardless of who's put in front of them. That's G2 in a nutshell, and we all love them for it. Schalke, on the other hand, are out of the playoffs and will now play their last two games of the 2020 Spring Split. There's nothing to fight for other than a bit of redemption. Still, they're the kind of team who'll surrender. In fact, it's the opposite. They'll fight from the moment they spawn on the Summoner's Rift as they want to maximize their time as much as possible, in an attempt to learn and improve as a five-man unit.
No one's quite sure whether this five-man line-up will survive the off-season, so they might as well give it their all and, at best, keep their jobs throughout the rest of the year.
They're also entering this week on a three game winstreak which is nothing to scoff at, especially for a team that ranked in the bottom three of the LEC. One of those wins came at the expense of Misfits Gaming, so it's not like Schalke are beating down bottom-tier dwellers either. They're deceptively strong, they know their way around the Summoner's Rift, and will fight from the moment they spawn on the map. The shift to online play also benefited them, as they're much more cohesive and individually sound, especially their substitute jungler Lurox. They're a lot stronger at the moment, and the fact that they're no longer playing in front of a live audience is enabling them more than people realize.
Still, even at their best, they're going to face an uphill battle against the best and most talented Europe ever fostered. G2 is simply too strong at the moment and even when they're fooling around they can get the win through the most astounding of means. Still, knowing their tendencies and willingness to troll and experiment, we're going with a fairly modest bet on this one. On paper, they're guaranteed to win, but logic and reason don't always come into effect when we're talking about the reigning LEC champions.
