G2 Esports vs Fnatic
The moment we’ve all been waiting for. This is the one match-up that always delivers no matter who’s playing and what the meta’s like. A clash of “kings,” if you will, albeit former ones. Neither G2 nor Fnatic are currently atop the LEC, and, frankly, we still haven’t adjusted to this rather novel status quo.
We’re talking about royalty here, two perennial organisations that have stood the test of time and are still as revered and admired as ever. So, naturally, whenever they’re scheduled to take the stage and compete, you’d be wise to clear out your schedule and tune in!
Fnatic are currently tied for first place with eight wins and just three losses, and have been playing some mighty impressive League of Legends. Heck, we’re putting it mildly here! They’re *the* team to beat right now and have looked nigh unstoppable whenever they played their game and executed to the best of their ability. Bwipo, in particular, has blown us away with his pathing and early game impact, and it’s fair to say that he’s been one of the best and most consistent junglers in the LEC — despite being a thorough novice in the role.
The rest of his teammates have been carrying their fair share of the weight as well, but they wouldn’t be quite as successful if it weren’t for Bwipo and his jungling prowess. Moreover, Upset and Hylissang are arguably the best and most dangerous bottom lane in the entire region, and have been unlocked in the best of ways ever since the Summer Split began. They’re aggressive (almost to a fault), mechanically gifted, and always willing to engage and skirmish regardless of the odds. “Fearless” would perhaps be the most apt way to describe it, and watching them flex over their opposition has been nothing short of mesmerising.
If they keep playing this darn well they’ll no doubt go the distance and, who knows, maybe even reclaim their long-lost throne. Stranger things have happened throughout history, and their current level of play definitely warrants all the hype and attention they’ve been getting.
G2, on the other hand, are still a question mark. They had that fairly dreadful mid-split slump but have since corrected course in the most dramatic of fashions — as evidenced by their most recent 2-0 week. The way in which they outclassed Rogue left no one indifferent. It wasn’t even remotely close. If you had removed the name tags you would’ve thought G2 were playing against a bunch of solo queue scrubs, rather than the Spring Split finalists — it was *that* one sided. All in all, it was a welcome reminder of just how good and capable they really are whenever they get on the same page and play to the best of their ability. This is still the best and most dangerous line-up ever assembled on European soil; we’re talking about a fact that mustn’t be forgotten, even though they haven’t been performing all that well throughout the last five weeks.
This is why this particular clash is so darn interesting. Fnatic have more momentum and have played a lot better than expected, but G2 are also on the up-and-up and have all the right tools to not only compete on even footing but also get the “W.” What’ll happen, though, is anyone’s guess. Both teams have a puncher’s chance and it’ll all boil down to preparation and early game execution. We’ll side with Fnatic as they’ve been a lot more consistent, but it can truly go either way!
