Golden Guardians vs Cloud9
Next up, we have a fairly enticing clash between Cloud9 and the Golden Guardians. There are many reasons to tune in, one of which is surely the sheer entertainment value that's present whenever these two teams step foot on stage to compete. They might have different amounts of potential but both line-ups play like their lives depend on it, and have a penchant for non-stop skirmishing.
What's not to like?
Cloud9 needs no introduction. They're the defending champions and have all the right tools to once again dominate beyond measure and defend their LCS throne. They're not having as easy a time as they did in Spring, but they're still heavily favored to win the whole thing. With a 11W-3L record, they're sitting nicely in second place with their spot in the playoffs already locked in. The Golden Guardians, on the other hand, are still struggling to solidify their spot as a respectable, well-rounded playoff-worthy contender. They're sitting on a .500 record with seven wins on the board, but they haven't been nearly as consistent as they'd like. There's a ton of potential, but most of their strength boils down to how well their three-man core (Closer, Damonte, and FBI) performs. They're also impossible to read at this point in time because of their inherent inconsistency. One game they'll look great with incredible team fighting and split-second engages and then they'll just implode beyond measure at the most random of moments.
Obviously, we're siding with Cloud9 on this one, but if GGS start off on the right foot, this might be a lot closer than most people expect.
