Golden Guardians vs Evil Geniuses

This is where things get a lot more interesting. A fight between the Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses is important in more ways than one, and it also carries a lot of significance for the broader LCS playoffs picture. These two teams are ranked fifth and sixth in the standings, but they have wildly different amounts of hype and momentum coming into this match.

One of the hand, we have GGS who've improved across the board as the split developed and are currently considered as one of the better teams in the region -- a layered, well-rounded challenger that can tango with the best teams the LCS has to offer (at least on a good day). They're by no means a top-tier behemoth, but with a deceptively capable bottom lane duo and one of the best junglers in the region, GGS have all the right tools to upset the status quo once the playoffs come around. Whether or not that'll happen still remains to be seen, but their positive record and impressive level of play attest to the fact.

Evil Geniuses, on the other hand, have performed exceptionally well back when they first subbed in Huni and Goldenglue, but this honeymoon phase of sorts didn't last long. In fact, it was over in a blink of an eye. EG is now on a three-game losing streak and have shown very little potential as a five-man unit. With seven wins and nine losses on the board, they are by no means a threat in the LCS and have done very little to impress us over the last couple of weeks. Bad drafts and abysmal individual play have plagued this team from the very beginning of the split, and it seems as though they lack the knowledge and leadership which are necessary for them to correct course and leave a mark in 2020. Again, they can definitely pack a punch when they set things up correctly, but just a single mistake or two is all it takes for EG to lose control and find themselves at an insurmountable deficit.

Predicting the outcome of this one game feels downright impossible for a wide variety of reasons. Still, GGS have earned our trust over the last couple of weeks and have performed at a much higher level when compared to Evil Geniuses. Granted, we're talking about very nuanced differences, but they do exist nonetheless. This game will be determined by the slimmest of margins, so if you're looking for a safe bet, you'd be wise to look elsewhere. Either way, we should be in for quite an entertaining clash.
