Golden Guardians vs Evil Geniuses
For our final match of the day we have a very fascinating one. To be fair, this isn't exactly what would categorize unter the "must watch" category, but it's still an interesting scrap nonetheless. The reason why there's so much intrigue around this one is because it's still somewhat impossible to gauge both team's power level and overall potential.
Despite this, they're at opposite ends when it comes to hype and momentum. Evil Geniuses had an abysmal showing yesterday and were swiftly outclassed and demolished by 100 Thieves. They simply did not look good, and it wasn't the first time either. They mostly have a spectacular game in which they play like everyone expects them to, followed by two or three abysmal ones where they're scattered across the map, without any game plan or strategy in mind. At their best, they're a very solid mid-tier contender with a lot of potential. At their worst, however, they're an out of sync mess that's incapable of playing solid League of Legends.
Watching them engage one after another is often baffling, and the fact that most of their players differ in playstyle doesn't help either. Jiizuke and Svenskeren don't have any semblance of synergy and it's hurting their chances more often than not. Still, you never know which shade of Evil Geniuses will show up. They're the definition of a coin-flip team.
The Golden Guardians, on the other hand, are an even bigger enigma. They shouldn't be this good. That's a fact, and yet they're performing far better than anyone ever expected. Most of their power comes from former TCL MVP Closer who's currently playing like one of the best junglers in the entire region, but Hauntzer and Goldenglue aren't half bad either. Their highs are much lower but so are their lows. Much like EG, they're often painfully inconsistent but they're incredibly strong nonetheless. A good chunk of it also depends on which Keith steps foot on stage to compete. Is it the abysmal, out of position Keith, or the "smurfing" Thresh main who found a lot of success during his bootcamp in Korea? Again, you're never quite sure.
We're going with the Golden Guardians on this one, although it's far from a safe bet. They're tied for fifth place for a good reason, with Evil Geniuses being -- statistically speaking -- the second worst in the region. This game can really go either way and if you're looking to bet safely, then going with EG would be the smarter option seeing how they have more avenues toward success and a broader arsenal of weapons. In that sense, they shouldn't have too big of a problem in taking GGS down. Still, they're too inconsistent at this point in time and they aren't in sync, which effectively negates a good number of their win conditions.
In any case, expect a skirmish-heavy affair that'll probably be determined in the early game.
