Immortals vs Cloud9

Finally, to close out not just the day but the regular portion of the 2021 LCS Spring Split as well, we have a rather interesting fight between Cloud9 and Immortals. Now, in all fairness, this isn't exactly a premier match-up, but you knew as much. Furthermore, there's very little reason for either of these two teams to tryhard and play like their lives depend on it. Immortals are already out of the playoffs and no kind of performance will change that. Cloud9, on the other hand, are all but guaranteed to finish in first place, so they've got nothing left to prove.

Still, it's an interesting clash that'll surely entertain us a lot more than most people expect. Both teams want as much practice as they can get, and having a "hall pass" of sorts to experiment with different drafts and champions is nothing to scoff at — especially not for Cloud9 who will be entering the 2021 Mid-Season Showdown as one of the best and dangerous teams in North America. So they might as well test things out now when there's still nothing on the line.

Immortals, to their credit, have performed a lot better than most of us expected, but it still wasn't enough in the grand scheme of things. They're just not good enough to compete at the highest of levels, but they sure did come close on a couple of occasions. Either way, they're a gatekeeper in every sense of the word which is still a bit better than Immortals of yore. Small, incremental improvements are the name of the game here, and they're definitely making progress. Cloud9 are heavily favored here and there's a good reason why, of course. We're giving them our full benefit of the doubt on this one as it's the only logical option. Still, depending on how much they decide to fool around and experiment, this game might be a lot closer than most expect.
