Immortals vs FlyQuest
Next up, we have a very interesting fight between FlyQuest and Immortals. On paper, there's not a lot to like, but it's actually a far more interesting match-up than you'd expect, especially given the way both teams have been playing recently. Plus, it's a fight between two playoff contenders. Now, they're not predicted to accomplish much in the grand scheme of things, but they're feisty challengers with the capacity to upset, so they should not be taken lightly. They can also overperform from time to time, which is especially true for Immortals — they look like a pushover, but when the stars align they perform like anything but.
That's perhaps the leitmotif of both these teams: good, but not great. They have potential, but they still need a lot more time before they can actually harness it. And it's not just about time either — they need guidance and an experienced coaching staff to create the foundation that'll enable such growth. Without those elements, potential means very little. Fortunately, both teams have improved quite a bit recently, and have shown some exceptional games throughout the last couple of weeks. They share much of the same weaknesses, too, so it'll be interesting to see which team drafts better and succeeds at imposing their pace early on. For nascent teams that have only just been assembled, it's all about confidence and momentum. Both line-ups have shown a fair bit of promise, but they're inherently volatile and inconsistent, which means predicting the outcome of this one game is nigh impossible.
It'll all boil down to the draft and the early game. To win, FlyQuest will have to get Licorice on a champion with a ton of agency, and enable Johnsun to the best of their ability. Immortals, on the other hand, need Revenge to step up and carry from the top lane while also getting Xerxe on a comfort pick on which he can push his team ahead in the early game. They're fairly similar in terms of talent and experience, but FlyQuest arguably have a higher skill ceiling, which is why we're going to side with them on this one.
Still, we're not doing so with any noticeable amount of confidence. These are very flawed teams with huge, glaring weaknesses. They're also not cohesive enough to actually (and consistently) exploit their opponents, which means we're probably in for quite a fun, skirmish-heavy fiesta that'll be decided by the slimmest of margins. Either way, entertainment will not be absent!
