Immortals vs Team SoloMid
Next up, we have a fairly exciting fight between the perennial North American titans Team SoloMid, and a team that is on the brink of reaching the playoffs, Immortals. On paper, there's quite a lot to like about this specific match-up, and if things pan out as expected, it could be one of the most exciting games of the day.
Obviously, the majority of fans will tune in to see Team SoloMid in action, and it's hard to blame them. The former LCS champions have looked downright spectacular over the last few weeks and are currently considered as the second best team in the region. Heck, some are going as far in saying that they're the only team in North America that has the depth, talent, strategic and mechanical prowess which are necessary to compete with the boys in black and blue. They already handed Cloud9 their first loss a couple of weeks ago, and have look amazing across the board ever since.
They've also broken their 2-0/0-2 week trend and are currently on a fairly impressive winstreak, given whom they had to fight again. Each and every member of the team is playing out of his mind, but it's their top laner BrokenBlade who's been doing the biggest grunt of the work. The Turkish import is having the split of his life and is styling on his opponents with staggering ease, regardless of the champion you put him. We're all aware of his immense talent, but he did regress a bit back in 2019, so it's nice to see him back in form.
Overall, this is one of the best Team SoloMid line-ups in history and if they play their cards right, they could very well end up in the finals. They have all the right tools to compete for the LCS trophy but whether or not they'll succeed in lifting it remains to be seen.
Immortals, on the other hand, also have what it takes to compete, at least against teams around them in the standings. They're fairly solid, albeit inherently limited and flawed. You never really know which shade of Immortals you'll see as they tend to change on a weekly basis. Sometimes they're stronger than you'd expect, other times they fumble and fail without any reason. These are growing pains, of course, but if they don't get on the same page and maintain a certain level of play they won't be able to do much in the grand scheme of things. Right now they're sitting on a fairly commendable 7W-8L record which means they're tied for fifth place with 100 Thieves.
As a team, they're pretty hot and cold, so betting on (or against) them often proves to be challenging. This time around, however, they're up against one of the best teams in the region, so it's somewhat easy to get the prediction right. Still, with a very solid top and jungle duo, they have what it takes to trade heavy blows with Team SoloMid. They're not the kind of team that'll go down without a fight and even though they were beaten pretty handily by FlyQuest yesterday, they're probably going to bounce back in pretty solid fashion. Therefore, expect a fairly competitive game, especially early on.
In any case, even if this match does end up being a complete blow-out, at least we'll see Team SoloMid back in action. By getting a win here they'll keep up with FlyQuest and stay tied for second place. Getting Top 2 is of the utmost importance right now as it'll provide them with a noticeable strategic edge once the playoffs come around.
