Misfits vs SK Gaming

For our second match of the day, we have a rather uninteresting clash between SK Gaming and Misfits. Now, by no means is this a must watch, but seeing these two teams collide could provide us with a fair bit of entertainment, regardless of where they end up by the end of the season.

That's primarily because of SK Gaming. The former LEC playoff contenders didn't exactly impress last week, but they were far from abysmal. A lot of people were sleeping on their line-up coming into 2020 and yet there's no obvious reason why that was the case. Now sure, they're not going to dethrone G2 Esports -- ever -- but they're a solid roster with a fair bit of talent, not to mention Kangyun "Trick" Kim. The former two-time LEC MVP is a veteran in every sense of the word and his guidance should prove to be invaluable to SK Gaming and the rest of its rather young and still unproven line-up.

Overall, they looked good. Some things were bad, some were surprising, but they played about as well as most of us expected -- far from an LEC titan, and at best a team that'll eventually challenge for a playoff spot. Heck, if they play their cards right, they could potentially finish the second week with a 2W-2L record, which is highly commendable seeing how many teams upgraded during the off-season.

If anything, they have multiple avenues for success. Juš "Crownshot" Marušič is horrendously underappreciated and yet the Slovenian talent has been hardcarrying more often than not. Pair that up with Janik "Jenax" Bartels and Toni "Sacre" Sabalić, and you get a very solid, capable team that's always going to be a dark horse.

Opposite them, we have Misfits Gaming. There aren't many positive things that we can point to after seeing their first two games. They were out of sync, they made numerous egregious mistakes across the board, and they lacked the strength which was necessary to actually compete at a solid enough level. They're not exactly abysmal, but they're darn close to it. Their only saving grace is Fabian "Febiven" Diepstraten, but even Febby failed to leave much of a mark in either game.

Perhaps worst of all, is the fact that there wasn't any evident potential whenever they played. They had a couple of solid moments, but still disappointed once all was said and done. No one was expecting much from Misfits coming into 2020, but it's still baffling to think that they couldn't have assembled a roster better than the one they have now.

In the end, we simply have to side with SK Gaming on this one. They have more experience, talent, and all the right tools to get the win. That said, they're far from a powerhouse, so expect a sloppy showing from both sides.
