New York Excelsior vs London Spitfire
To open up the season, we have a very fascinating match-up between the New York Excelsior and the London Spitfire. Just a year ago, this would've been a premier clash, a fight between two seemingly equal titans. As things stand, however, no one's expecting much seeing how London imploded during the most recent off-season.
They're a much different team right now, and they lack the mechanical prowess and consistency that graced their inaugural 2018 line-up. Still, with a couple of high-profile rookie signings, they're not exactly a pushover, especially not this early on into the season when teams are still getting on the same page. Many fans and analysts have them in their bottom five, and that feels like a fairly realistic prediction.
Opposite them, however, we have the New York Excelsior. With 2-2-2 back in action, we can expect to see an aggressive, mechanically gifted NYXL much like in 2018. If they play as well as they did in the past, we're bound to be entertained beyond our wildest dreams. They have all the right tools at their disposal to leave a mark in the grand scheme of things in 2020. The sheer depth of their line-up is staggering, and if they utilize it as well as they could, there's no telling how high they'll climb.
In the end, we simply have to side with NYXL. It's still too early to predict anything with confidence given it's the start of the season, but they should definitely have a huge upper hand straight out of the gates.
