Origen vs G2 Esports

To close out the day we have an absolute barnburner -- a clash between G2 Esports and Origen. Now, some people think Fnatic is the best and most consistent team in Europe right now. Others, however, still believe in G2 and their long-term potential. In any case, both G2 and OG belong in the LEC pantheon and have done more than enough to warrant our full benefit of the doubt.

Even on a bad day they belong in the Top 3. They simply have too much talent and experience to drop any lower. Still, even though they're extremely talented and brimming with potential, they're not exactly equal in any way, shape, and form.

On the one hand we have G2. They're still as insane and flexible as ever, but they're just not as dangerous as in 2019 with Caps in the bottom lane. It's as if they lost one of their biggest and most dangerous assets and there's quite a noticeable difference in regards to their current strength and consistency. Now sure, G2 are probably taking time off, they're not practicing as much because there's no good reason for them to do so. Still, you'd expect them to look at least a bit better overall, and Caps, individually, hasn't been playing that well at least not in the current immobile ADC meta. You want him on carry champions, on picks that can create mind-blowing plays and dominate beyond measure. Not Senna. Still, they're capable of producing the same masterclass performances as in 2019, especially on home soil.

Origen, on the other hand, have looked amazing overall, but they always fell short when it mattered the most. They're not as aggressive or dangerous as they need to be, especially in the current meta. They lost to Fnatic last week in fairly one-sided fashion, and their first game against G2 Esports a couple of weeks back didn't go any better. It feels like there's a palpable skill ceiling whenever Origen plays and while they're insanely capable overall, they still lack a hardcarry of sorts. Alphari, as great as he is, simply isn't enough, especially not when you compare OG as a whole against G2 Esports or Fnatic -- two of their biggest opponents.

They certainly have multiple pocket picks and cards up their sleeve, but all of that pales in comparison to what G2 Esports brings to the table. Make no mistake: Origen can go blow for blow and will not go down without a fight, but if they're not perfect in execution, they're bound to succumb to the immense pressure from the defending champions. In any case, they're looking like a solid, Top 3 team and will definitely fight their hearts out in an attempt to tie G2 in the head to head record.

The reigning champs aren't nearly as consistent as you'd expect, but they're still far more capable than Origen will ever be. They're always looking to have fun and experiment, but whenever they're up against a top-tier team, they want to make a statement, and this game should be no different. Expect an in-sync, highly aggressive G2 Esports that'll throw heavy blows from the moment they step foot on stage.
