Origen vs Team Vitality
Next up, we have a clash between Origen and Team Vitality. This, frankly speaking, isn't a must-watch spectacle but rather a one-sided affair in the making. Still, if you're starved for competitive League, it'll definitely suffice.
On the one side, we have Team Vitality -- arguably the worst team in the LEC at the time of this writing. There's just nothing positive to talk about, frankly. They did slightly improve over the last couple of weeks, but it's too little too late. Their early game is somewhat commendable, seeing how they're solid on an individual level, but it's just not enough against even the mid-tier LEC gatekeepers. This entire split was a complete trainwreck, highlighted by visa issues, egregious decision-making, and horrendous team play. What went wrong is anyone's guess at this point, but one thing is for certain: Vitality needs to change immensely during the off-season if they want to stand a chance of leaving a mark in the 2020 Summer Split. By "immensely" we mean four or perhaps even five entirely new players. There's just nothing worthy of salvaging, other than perhaps their top lane Cabochard who's a known quantity.
Their tremendous fall from grace was somewhat expected, given that they lost a couple of key players from 2019. Still, no one could have foreseen them being this abysmal. After all, they have a solid coaching staff with an experienced head coach (of Splyce fame). They should've been at least a bit better, and yet that failed to be the case for a multitude of reasons.
They're out of the running for playoffs and are basically fighting for a bit of redemption. Some times still fight their hearts out when there's nothing on the line. Vitality, however, are probably not such a team. They've shown us very little over the last seven weeks of regular season play which is why no one's really giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Origen on the other hand, are currently a Top 3 challenger. Even though seven whole weeks of play have gone by, no one's quite sure how high to rank them. They've had a couple of spectacular games, but whenever they fought against Fnatic or G2 Esports, they faltered, as was expected. There's a ton of talent, potential, and experience within their five-man line-up, but they lack that extra something which is necessary to actually compete at the highest of levels. As in splits past, they lack a hardcarry, someone like Perkz, or Caps, or Rekkles. Instead, they have many fantastic individuals, but once push comes to shove, that's just not enough. They are by no means bad or mediocre, but rather just slightly underwhelming when compared to the former "Kings of Europe." Still, there's a lot to like about their line-up, and their spectacular macro and immense drafting potential often gives them an upper hand even before they spawn on the Summoner's Rift.
They're all in sync, they have more than enough mechanical talent, and shouldn't have much trouble in handling Team Vitality tonight.
