Paris Eternal vs Los Angeles Gladiators
Yet another interesting match-up that's relatively hard to predict. There's not a whole lot of consistency in the Overwatch League right now and, well, it's easy to understand why. Teams are still figuring out what's the best and most optimal way of playing the game and, needless to say, some have found more success than others.
Both LAG and Paris are on the up and up, although how high they'll eventually be able to soar is anyone's guess at this point. They *have* shown a fair bit of promise, but it's still hard to fully evaluate their potential based on the meagre sample size that's at our disposal. That's especially true for Paris, who've had both moments of greatness but also moments of absolute, dreadful mediocrity. The jury's still out on whether or not they have what it takes to compete at the highest of levels, and their 3-2 win over Boston wasn't exactly a statement either.
They always have a great showing after which they seemingly regress for no obvious reason. They're a bit too inconsistent for our liking, but they're definitely trying their hardest to shore up their weaknesses and mount an offensive whenever they're scheduled to compete, so credit where credit is due.
So they definitely have a puncher's chance, although they'll face an uphill battle against a surprisingly game LAG. They're not predicted to win but they could, in theory, put up a fight and perhaps even go the five-map distance. Still, it feels like they're lacking in certain key areas to truly challenge for a spot near the top, and while LAG aren't world-beaters either, they're at least more consistent and have looked a bit more dominant thus far, especially in the June Joust meta.
We'll side with the Gladiators on this one — they have ample experience and mechanical prowess to emerge victorious, although it probably won't be a walk in the park!
