Philadelphia Fusion vs Paris Eternal

To open up the day we have a fairly interesting clash between the Philadelphia Fusion and the Paris Eternal. Frankly speaking -- if things pan out as expected -- this should be nothing more than a fairly swift, one-sided shellacking.

Paris, while talented and fairly competitive, just isn't a top-tier team at the moment. Their 5W-4L record might seem solid, but it's also deceiving in nature. The last we've seen of them was a beatdown at the hands of Florida Mayhem two weeks ago. Now, losing 0-3 is never good, regardless of the match-up. Losing 0-3 to Florida, of all teams, is pretty much a death sentence for your chances of leaving a mark in the grand scheme of things. And while Paris did have solid moments here and there, spread throughout the regular season, they were never consistent enough to actually warrant anyone's full benefit of the doubt.

Again, they did surprise from time to time, but it simply wasn't enough. Even when, for example, they managed to upset the Fusion in week five at the Washington homestand, they failed to maintain such momentum and pretty much imploded shorty afterwards. Still, the fact that it even happened has to make one wonder. You can never count on these moments of brilliance which means you never quite know which shade of Paris will step on stage to compete.

Still, if recent history is any indication, they shouldn't be too good, although this new hero pool did affect things quite a fair bit as Echo is running rampant, dishing out insane amounts of damage and creating game-winning plays -- if piloted the right way, of course.

All that aside, the Fusion has one of the most talented and stacked rosters in the entire Overwatch League and they've proven their worth on many different occasions throughout history. Finally, even if the Eternal come out the gates swinging, Philadelphia should still be more than capable of getting the win. They're just too good at this point in time to drop a game against a mid-tier challenger, although stranger things did happen over the last couple of weeks. In any case, proceed with caution.
