Philadelphia Fusion vs Seoul Dynasty
For our first match of the day we have an incredibly interesting scrap between the Seoul Dynasty and the Philadelphia Fusion. The Fusion are looking to upset as they're still in a position to aim for Top 3 whereas for Seoul this is just another "day at the office". They're also fully aware of the threat that this Fusion lineup poses. That said their potential is often hindered by their wild inconsistency but when they get their gameplan together and play as a six man cohesive unit they're a force to be reckoned with.
Speaking of Fusion, they started off their Stage 2 incredibly well. They dominated over the Boston Uprising and the Florida Mayhem in 4-0 fashion and then proceeded to best Houston in a five map brawler before ultimately falling short against London Spitfire. Well, perhaps "falling short" is an understatement as they were completely and utterly demolished.
London completely strangled Fusion from the very get go on Hanamura as they literally didn't allow Fusion to get through the gates on point A. They picked off Fusion's supports left and right with Gesture not dying a single time on Spitfire's defense. They had a full hold on Hanamura and took the lead in the match in a matter of minutes. The rest of the match was much of the same, with Fusion players dying at the worst possible times. There was a lack of healing, synergy and even damage on the side of Philadelphia at almost every stage of the match.
With ShadowBurn back in the lineup they looked far less ferocious than they did just a couple of days prior with EQO as their starting Genji specialist. Carpe was also far less effective this time around as he had a fairly bad series. (Neptuno even had more final blows on Hollywood) With their DPS players failing to pop off and perform and their support duo dying consistently there wasn't much Fusion could do other than roll over and get demolished.
In the end it was so one-sided that if you removed the name tags and the in-game skins you would've guessed it was New York against Shanghai, rather than two top tier teams that were neck-and-neck at a certain point in Stage 1. What exactly happened to Philadelphia between weeks one and two is hard to guess however they displayed a great deal of problems that can be heavily exploited. Seoul is renown for their mid-series adaptation and with Munchkin stepping up so much with his Tracer play, they shouldn't have too big of a problem taking Fusion down.
We're going with Seoul on this one. They're the favorites and with good reason. They fielded a completely different roster without their main players against Shanghai Dragons and didn't show a single new strategy, so they're entering the match against Philadelphia with their cards close to the chest. That said if Philadelphia gets out of the gates swinging and perhaps starting EQO over ShadowBurn they might be able to make this a very competitive series.
