Rogue vs G2 Esports
Rogue have never beaten G2 in a regular season Best of 1. Let that sink in. They've had eleven chances, too, so it's not like we're talking about a meagre sample size. No matter the meta, context, or players, Rogue have never been able to go the distance and get their hands raise.
So, frankly, we're being put in a very thankless position here. They've been a lot better throughout the split, more cohesive, aggressive, flexible, and, frankly, effective. G2, on the other hand, have struggled in a myriad of ways and have done very little to earn our benefit of the doubt. But it's like they have Rogue's number — they always find an avenue for success, no matter how grim the odds might be. We'd go with Rogue as that's what pure logic and reason dictate, but we also have enough empirical evidence that says otherwise. Anything can happen in competitive League, of that we're all aware — heck, Cloud9 lost to an Academy team last night — but it seems that G2 beating Rogue is just one of the many constants in life.
This is pretty much as far from a safe bet as possible. It'll be a spectacular clash, there's no doubt about it, but who'll get the "W" is anyone's guess. G2 have improved quite a bit ever since the Summer Split began, but one simply has to wonder: will it be enough? Rogue have gotten some truly amazing wins on the board and are arguably playing their best League of Legends yet. G2, on the other hand, are still as shaky and inconsistent as humanly possible.
In the end, we'll go with G2 on this one and hope for the best. Any other call would be ludicrous — the former "Kings of Europe" hold a perfect 11-0 record, and if they come out the gates swinging and execute as best they can, they'll surely improve to 12-0.
