San Francisco Shock vs Atlanta Reign
To close out the day, we have a clash between none other than the two-time Overwatch League champions (San Francisco Shock) and a team that's still somewhat impossible to fully read and assess (Atlanta Reign). By and large, it's a pretty darn entertaining match-up and it should definitely deliver in terms of excitement and top-tier play.
It is, however, a foregone conclusion. It mostly is whenever the Shock are involved. They're simply too darn good and, barring any unforeseen twist or mind-boggling upset (like the one against Houston), they should definitely be able to dispose of Atlanta in relatively quick and commanding fashion. Whether we're talking about a 3-0 sweep or perhaps a more competitive 3-1 still remains to be seen. Still, the outcome is all but guaranteed. The Reign are talented -- there's no doubt about it -- but they're still nowhere near as capable, cohesive, or mechanically gifted in order to compete on even footing with San Francisco and actually win out. They might perform a bit better than expected, but the final outcome should remain the same.
The fashion in which San Francisco disposed of Florida yesterday was simply astounding. Most clean sweeps are inherently one-sided, but this one was a bit different — the Shock came in with a chip on their shoulder and basically embarrassed Florida. Heck, they made them look like a bunch of scrubs, as if they didn't even belong in the Overwatch League. That's how good SFS can be whenever they double down on their strengths and execute to the best of their ability. And, well, with Atlanta being worse than Florida, it's hard to imagine this match-up going any other way.
We're obviously going to side with the two-time champions on this one as it's the only logical option. They might not blow Atlanta out of the water, but they should still be able to get the win.
