Seoul Dynasty vs Dallas Fuel
For our first match of the day we have an incredibly exciting clash between Dallas Fuel and Seoul Dynasty. Now this is quite the definition of a premier matchup - former Lunatic Hai vs. EnVyUs. Both teams are entering Week 2 after dominant 2-0 showings last week and they're surely looking to continue building momentum.
As for Dallas Fuel, well, one this is for certain - they're turning things around and at a quite rapid speed. That was pretty expected as well though, they looked better with each passing week and only somewhat settled into the groove of things by the end of Stage 1.
But that's not the only change. They made two key signings - AKM and Rascal and both have turned out to be sensational pick-ups. Both DPS maestros made sure the rest of the League was on notice as they shined and dominated non-stop last week. That paired with the fact that they got xQc back in the line-up made things considerably easier for the Fuel.
Fuel has so many flexible players that they even managed to flex Taimou off of DPS and on to Winston and Reinhardt - a move that paid off as he had little trouble playing against Shanghai. Speaking of their first match of Stage 2, Dallas started throwing heavy punches straight out of the gates on Volskaya. AKM proved to anyone who might be doubting that he indeed has a filthy good Soldier 76 but the thing that surprised people the most was just how much synergy he had with EFFECT. The DPS duo was on-fire for the majority of the series and when things went to Route 66 and the team needed a high level Genji in the mix - they simply subbed in Rascal. His ability to persevere during the most intense and clutch moments were the deciding factor in their strong defense on point B.
They weren't perfect however. They had no answer for Shanghai's quad tank team comp on Hollywood and they were unable to find a counter for the entirety of the map. They also had a fair number of individual mistakes - most notably Custa ulting accidentaly on Zenyatta.
When they faced the Los Angeles Gladiators they decided to step things up a bit though. They stormed Hanamura with relative ease as they were much more in-sync and disciplined on both attack and defense when compared to the Gladiators. They fell off a bit on Lijiang Tower as both teams upped their game. It was a close battle of Lucio mains, that was eventually decided by Hydration's clean Pharah plays and BigGoose's clutch "Sound Barrier". (even though he spent the majority of time dead after getting booped by Harryhook off the map)
King's Row was a clean showing from Dallas, as they displayed some sick coordinated plays on almost every part of the map. Gibraltar was much of the same as both teams attacked and defended to the best of their ability - with Dallas winning in the end thanks to some insane last second clutch plays.
In the end, it looked like Dallas fully read Gladiators' plays and strategies because they essentially played the exact same things as they did prior to their clash in Week 1.
It's incredible to think that even without their "main" shotcaller Taimou in the starting lineup they managed to take down an opponent that is far more capable and threatening than Shanghai. Things are looking bright for this Dallas Fuel squad, however we're still a couple of matches away from being able to fully gauge their skill level.
Their potential is undeniable however and this clash with Seoul will be the first true high-level test for the new and upgraded roster.
Seoul is quite a difficult beast to tackle. You never really know how they're going to come out of the gates, however Dallas has perhaps a small upper hand. They've already played against this Seoul roster and they made things very competitive at the very beginning of Stage 1. Seoul also displayed a ton of weaknesses very often (even against Western teams) and are heavily exploitable. That said they looked fantastic and hungry for revenge in the first week of Stage 2 play so we're surely in for a treat come Wednesday night.
