Seoul Dynasty vs Hangzhou Spark
Next up, we have a confusing clash between Seoul Dynasty and Hangzhou Spark. After returning to the Overwatch League, Seoul hasn't been all that great. In fact, you could argue that they've been fairly abysmal.
They were beaten to the ground and outclassed across the board by both Shanghai and Guangzhou. The fact that they lost to the former isn't all that strange although it was an indication of their overall strength and long-term potential. Losing to the latter, however, tells us that they're nowhere near ready to take on the upper echelon of the Overwatch League. In fact, the fashion in which they lost seriously affected their stock, and it's hard not to consider them as a mid-tier gatekeeper at best.
Guangzhou has a fairly talented line-up, but it simply wasn't supposed to win in such a one-sided manner against a team of Seoul's caliber. But they did, and now on one's quite sure whether Seoul is even remotely good at this point in time. There's some potential, of course, but we didn't see it in action. Whether this new hero pool is to blame or if there's something else at play is anyone's guess.
Their only saving grace at the moment is the fact that they already beat Hangzhou last week. That's literally the only thing they have going for them right now. Seeing how Seoul know what they're going up against, we'll give them our benefit of the doubt. That said, with their abysmal losses to Shanghai and Guangzhou, no one's quite sure how good they are and whether or not they have what it takes to compete at the highest of levels. Still, even at their worst they should still be more than capable of getting another win over Hangzhou. That, at least, makes sense.
Fortunately for Seoul, the Spark are struggling even more so this will be their chance to capitalize and regain at least some semblance of momentum going into week 13. One thing is for certain: they desperately need it.
