Team Dignitas vs Evil Geniuses

Next up, we have a really interesting clash between Evil Geniuses and Dignitas. While this might not seem like barnburner in the making, it’s every inch a spectacular match-up, and it carries a ton of significance as well, not just for these two teams but for the playoff picture as well. Plus, as if all of that wasn’t enough, these two teams are separated by the slimmest of margins or, in this case, just a single win.

The pressure is mounting.

Dignitas is tied for second with nine wins and five losses, whereas Evil Geniuses have tied 100 Thieves for fifth with eigth wins and six losses. Just writing such a sentence feels surreal — like we’re inhabiting a different, vastly more confusing timeline. A dank one, too. Whether you’re aboard the Dignitas hype train or not is up to you, but their talent and effectiveness can no longer be denied — they’re a bona fide challenger, even though they don’t have any superstars or hard-carries to speak of. Instead, they’re all carrying their fair share of the weight, and it’s an approach that has garnered them a metric ton of success thus far. They’re a native team through and through, and what they’ve been able to accomplish thus far is nothing short of mind-blowing. And none of this is a fluke, either — they’re just playing better League of Legends than their opponents. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s really that simple.

Evil Geniuses, on the other hand, are impossible to read which, as far as betting goes, means they’re an absolute nightmare to deal with. Are they good? Toss a coin. It’s really that simple. It all depends on the day, and how they’re feeling about it. For instance, they should’ve had no issue whatsoever in taking Immortals down yesterday, and yet that didn’t happen. Why, you might ask? Well, there’s isn’t a definitive answer. They’re just as volatile as humanly possible. They’ll drop a game to a bottom-tier dweller and then upset the number one team — that’s their M.O. and it’s infuriating, really. Whenever you’re betting, you want to be able to predict the outcome or, at the very least, use empirical evidence to back up your prediction. With Evil Geniuses, all of that goes out the window. There’s no rhyme or reason behind what’s going on whenever they step foot on the Rift. It really boils down to the day and whether or not they make any huge egregious mistakes early on.

They’re impossible to read, which means that no one can confidently predict the outcome of this one match. It’s just impossible, for better or worse. Are Dignitas better than Evil Geniuses? Well, it depends on whom you ask. They’re definitely a lot more consistent right now which, in all fairness, is much more important. We’re not talking about long-term potential here or anyone’s skill ceiling — what matters is the “here” and “now” and that’s exactly where Dignitas have the edge.

So, we’re going to side with them on this one, although we’re doing so without any confidence. This game could truly go either way.
