Team Dignitas vs Evil Geniuses

Our first match of the day is a rather exciting one — it seems that any time EG step foot on stage to compete there's a reason to tune in! And, frankly, it wasn't always like this. Far from it, in fact. We tuned in for the volatility, for the sheer aggression and bravado — not for top-notch League of Legends.

But times change, and the same goes for Evil Geniuses. They've made the right adjustments coming into the second half of 2021 and are currently amongst the very best teams in North America. That alone is quite a commendable thing given whom they have for opposition. Whether they're wholly better than the likes of 100 Thieves, Cloud9, Team Liquid, and Team SoloMid still remains to be seen, but they've definitely made their case. We can't wait to see them compete in the playoffs as they actually have a shot at leaving a mark. They're still as aggressive and unhinged as ever, but they're also a bit more controlled, more precise in their aggression, more in tune with their inherent strengths and virtues.

They're still infallible (as evidenced by their loss to the Golden Guardians two days ago), but they're a force to be reckoned with and have shown no signs of slowing down any time soon. So, naturally, one simply has to give them the benefit of the doubt against Dignitas QNTMPAY -- a team that is daring and capable, but nowhere near as dangerous enough to compete on even footing with Evil Geniuses.

They'll try, though, and should not be underestimated for they definitely have the potential to upset -- just ask 100 Thieves. Be that as it may, they're on the decline, and their few bursts of brilliance are by no means enough to warrant our benefit of the doubt. They're good but just not good enough for it to matter. Regardless, they'll surely give Evil Geniuses a run for their money and entertain us in the process. For Dignitas, every single game going forward matters immensely. They haven't the best of records but are nonetheless a shoo-in for the playoffs. Whether they'll get on the same page in time and leave a mark in the latter stages of the split still remains to be seen, but you should definitely temper your expectations.
