Team Dignitas vs Immortals

Right after the historic Cloud9 vs. Team SoloMid showmatch, we have two bafflingly underwhelming clashes, the first of which is Team Dignitas vs. Immortals. This, in essence, is a clash between the ninth and tenth ranked teams in North America. In other words, this is about as uninteresting a match-up as you can get these days as there's very little to get excited about.

We're five weeks into the 2020 Summer Split, so there's no need to mince words or hold anything back. These two line-ups are some of the worst we've ever seen in the LCS, at least performance-wise. They have a couple of household names and a breadth of experience, but none of that has positively affected their play in any way, shape, or form. Immortals have just a single win on the board, whereas Dignitas are still winless eight games into the split. Let that one sink in. Two teams, sixteen games combined, and just a single win. That's about as abysmal a record as you can get -- it baffles the mind, really, as if it's fiction, and yet when you see these teams in action, it immediately makes sense. They're *that* bad.

Granted, both organizations swapped their line-ups and made ample changes, but these moves -- while positive in nature -- won't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. Immortals certainly look better, but seeing how we're comparing them to Dignitas that's not really saying much. Regardless, the fact that they have Xmithie, Apollo, and Hakuho, is absolutely huge. Their veteran presence alone gives Immortals a fighting chance, and they've certainly had a couple of competitive games ever since they were given the nod to start on the LCS stage. Furthermore, Insanity and Allorim -- best known for their Academy stints -- have proven their worth as well. They're by no means top-tier behemoths, but they're holding their own against the best teams the LCS has to offer.

As a unit, however, Immortals isn't all that great, although they're deceptively capable and crafty, in no small part because of the veterans leading the charge. Dignitas, on the other hand, is a sinking ship. They've decided to start with Lourlo, Dardoch, and Fenix, a trio that -- while highly experienced -- simply isn't strong enough to compete on even footing, even with a team like Immortals. They're all mechanically gifted, but they previously slotted into Academy for a reason.

In any case, predicting the outcome of this one is nigh impossible -- both teams are incredibly volatile and have done very little to earn anyone's benefit of the doubt. We're siding with Immortals on this one, but it could, in theory, go either way. Regardless of the final outcome, expect absolute chaos from the moment these two teams spawn on the Summoner's Rift.
