Team Dignitas vs Immortals

Finally, to close out the day, we have a fairly fascinating clash between Immortals and Team Dignitas. Now, depending on your allegiance (and your preference for semi-fiesta League of Legends), this is either a must watch, or a fairly passable game that holds no particular interest.

Either way, it does hold playoff implications, and both teams have a fair bit of talent, so they're bound to entertain us, regardless of the final outcome.

Dignitas is proving to be the biggest disappointment of the split, and it's truly hard to argue with such a sentiment. No one expected much from them coming into 2020, but they did have multiple talented veterans and high profile signings. On paper, they definitely stood a chance of upsetting the status quo at least ever so slightly. In fact, that's what happened early on with Dignitas being tied for first place after multiple unexpectedly dominant showings against the best teams the LCS had to offer.

For a brief moment in time, Dignitas was one of the most dominant and aggressive teams in the region. Then, according to multiple of their players, they became complacent and took their success for granted. After that point -- regardless if it's true or not -- they never quite looked the same. Right now, they're tied for eighth place along with the Golden Guardians, and their underwhelming 6W-10L record certainly leaves a lot to be desired. They're still that same talented, highly experienced line-up from before, but they're just not playing as a unit and they're nowhere near as dangerous as they need to be to actually leave a mark in the grand scheme of things.

As things stand, they're pretty much guaranteed to finish the split outside of the Top 6 and have nothing else to fight for other than a bit of redemption. They've disappointed across the board, and that's especially true when you consider the amount of money Dignitas invested coming into the split (with only Huni's two-year contract being worth 2.3 million dollars).

Opposite them, we have Immortals, a team that, much like Dignitas, had little to no hype coming into Spring, and yet were able to surprise everyone in attendance. Right now, they need just a single win to lock their spot in the playoffs and you can bet they're going to come out the gates swinging like their lives depend on it. They know this is a very winnable game, seeing how they have the edge in almost every regard. That doesn't mean they'll win by default, but they've been much more consistent and dangerous throughout the split when compared to their opponents.

Dignitas look much more dangerous than they truly are and when they make their mistake -- and they *will* make it, seeing how they're not in sync -- Immortals should be able to capitalize fully. Still, this is a fight between two seemingly equal teams with seasoned veterans on both sides. In theory, it could go either way, but if Xmithie and sOAZ step up (much like they did in the past), they shouldn't have too big of a problem in getting the win. Either way, expect a lot of skirmishing that may or may not veer into the fiesta realm.
