Team Liquid vs Immortals
Arguably the least important match of the day, but still a fairly enticing one if you're a Team Liquid fan -- seeing the former champions in action is always a reason to tune in, especially seeing how they've improved each time they stepped foot on stage to compete.
Immortals, however, have absolutely nothing to offer to the boys in white and blue, and have done very little to impress over the last couple of weeks. Scratch that, they've done very little to impress over the last eight months. This might be an overly harsh way of phrasing it, but it doesn't make it any less true. Immortals are, without a doubt, one of the worst and least capable teams the LCS has to offer, and while they certainly have a ton of talent and experience present within their five-man line-up, they haven't been able to utilize it correctly. They're volatile, out of sync, and they also lack the strength to trade heavy blows with even the mid-tier LCS gatekeepers, let alone the best teams in North America.
Liquid, on the other hand, are in sole possession of first place and there's a very good reason why that's the case; they've taken their mistakes and losses in stride, they went back to the drawing board and improved in a myriad of ways whenever they could. That is a true hallmark of a great, top-tier team. The sheer fact that Liquid went from ninth to first in the span of just a couple of weeks is simply mind-blowing, and is a testament to their work ethic, stacked coaching staff, and sheer talent. Watching them in action -- flawed though they are -- has been an absolute pleasure. If they manage to get on the same page with Broxah they could be poised to re-claim the LCS throne, especially with Cloud9 imploding without any apparent reason.
Either way, they're favored over Immortals for a reason.
