Team Liquid vs Immortals
For our second match of the day we have a pretty one-sided beatdown in the making: Team Liquid vs. Immortals. Frankly speaking, this is about as big of a mismatch as possible. We're talking about a fight between the first-ever LCS Lock-In champions (who also happen to be the frontrunners to win at least one LCS split this year, if not both) and a bottom-tier dweller. Hardly entertaining, you'll probably agree. So, in short, there's quite a vast gap in terms of talent and potential between these two line-ups.
Regardless, we should still be entertained, at least ever so slightly. Heck, any time this Team Liquid line-up steps foot on stage to compete is a reason to tune in -- they're *that* good and entertaining. And, unlike the Team Liquid of yore, this incarnation is actually mighty aggressive and dangerous across the board. They're actually willing to put their best foot forward, stand their ground, and trade heavy blows regardless of the state of the game. That's definitely the one thing past TL rosters lacked -- that "killer instinct" so to speak. They were always more reserved, more afraid and passive, and while they were undoubtedly talented in every sense of the word, they couldn't exactly compete with the best and most dangerous teams the world of competitive League had to offer. They didn't sweat much on North American soil, but once they faced the many titans of the LPL, LCK, and LEC, they paled in comparison. Their one-dimensional identity and approach to the game hindered them in more ways than one.
And now that's gone, and we can't wait to see what they'll do going forward. This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most capable and dangerous line-up ever assembled in NA, and they have all the right tools to not only dominate regionally but even leave a mark on the international stage. And, frankly, we can't wait to see it all transpire. They've built up an immense amount of hype and momentum over the last couple of weeks and are unquestionably one of the most potent line-ups North America has to offer.
That's a far cry from what Immortals have to offer. As harsh as it might sound, it's still true, and it won't change any time soon (if ever). They're pretty okay on paper for a team generally deemed as a bottom-tier dweller, but they -- of course -- can't hold a candle to a team of Liquid's caliber. Heck, we can even go a step further and say that they've looked surprisingly capable throughout the first stage of the Lock-In tournament, but that won't mean much going forward. We know they're a feisty bunch, but that's about all they can offer right now.
In the end, we simply have to side with Team Liquid on this one as it's the only logical option. They're a bona fide titan of competitive League and should have no issues in taking Immortals down with relative ease.
