Team Vitality vs G2 Esports

Yet another game for G2 Esports to flex their immense mechanical prowess and seemingly infinite talent. If anything, watching this one should be an absolute must because we'll get to see the defending champs in action. G2 Esports are entering the second week of competitive play with a perfect 2W-0L record, but their path towards it wasn't as easy as most expected.

G2 Esports looked uncharacteristically weak and -- at least in the early game -- subdued. They were far less proactive, aggressive, and they just looked lost across the board. Such a thing was expected as they've shifted Rasmus "Caps" Winther and Luka "Perkz" Perković around, but it's still a surprising sight. After all, they had the worst Gold Differential at the ten minute mark out of all ten teams. Imagine that, being the champion, coming in hot after reaching the finals of the World Championship mere months prior, and have the worst early game in the region.

Obviously, they'll be able to solve such a problem in record time -- much like they did in the past -- but this does mean that they're a bit less dangerous and threatening than they were in 2019. Still, once the going got rough, the G2 of yesteryear shined bright. Perkz and Caps dominated beyond measure, and their teamfighting prowess is still awe-inspiring. The fact that they're struggling to transition their individual leads into the mid game is worrying, but they've had bad patches in the past, so it's still way too early to sound the alarms.

The important thing is that they're still as unhinged and confident as always, and that's certainly the case. They're the favorites to win yet another LEC title (their third in a row), and they're working hard to much such a goal into reality.

Opposite them we have Team Vitality. Now, the French org failed to register even a single win last week and they've even lost to both SK Gaming as well as MAD Lions. Losing is not a problem, but losing to teams who are predicted to be at your power level can become a problem. If we judge their level of play right now, they're definitely a bottom-tier dweller and are perhaps only slightly better than Misfits Gaming. Now sure, they didn't have their newest mid laner on board because of visa issues, but they were still fairly passive and unimpactful regardless of what was happening on the Rift. They're just not a strong enough team at the moment, and while that could potentially change a bit over time, they're probably not going to to leave much of a mark in the grand scheme of things.

To make matters even worse, they're up against the best and most talented team Europe ever fostered. They might be able to make things somewhat competitive in the early game (especially if they have Aljoša "Milica" Kovandžić), but once G2 warms up, the game should end in rather convincing, one-sided fashion.
