Top Esports vs DRX
What a sensational way to close out the day: Top Esports vs. DRX! This right here is about as good as it gets, at least as far as the Group Stage is concerned! One the one side we have the LPL champions — a team that’s staggeringly good and dominant. Their weaknesses are few in number, and only a single team has been able to slightly exploit them throughout 2020 (JD Gaming). To say that Top Esports has been dominating wouldn’t even begin to cut it. This truly is one of the cleanest and most aggressive teams in the history of the game, and they’re entering 2020 Worlds with a metric ton of hype and momenutm. And, frankly, all of it is well-deserved. From the moment they steamrolled through their opposition at the first-ever 2020 Mid-Seaosn Cup, we knew they were destined to ascend the ranks. They had all the right tools, after all, but things just didn’t “click” prior to that point.
Right now, as things stand, they’re one of the two biggest favorites to go the distance and win the whole tournament, with the other being DAMWON Gaming. That’s quite a big narrative, but they’ve definitely earned it. And their play justifies any slew of superlatives we might throw their way. If you’re looking for the absolute best and cleanest League of Legends, tuning in to their games is an absolute must.
Opposite them, however, we have DRX. Now, they’re nowhere near as good as DAMWON Gaming, but they’re still exceptional at the game and are more than worthy of your time. Granted, they don’t have the tools to compete with Top Esports on even footing, but they’re far from a pushover, and this one game will precisely tell us just how good they truly are relative to the biggest tournament favorites. DRX still has lots to prove even though they’re favored to get out of their group as the number two seed and therefore reach the quarterfinals. Their one game against the Unicorns of Love was pretty dominant, but that was to be expected, given DRX’s pedigree and stacked line-up. The LPL champions, on the other hand, will be their first true test.
In the end, we simply have to side with Top Esports on this one as it’s the only logical choice. It might not be particularly clean or dominant as some expect, but they should definitely be able to get the win and subsequently lock down first place in their group.
