Toronto Defiant vs Vancouver Titans
Toronto Defiant vs. Vancouver Titans doesn't really get the blood pumping, you'll probably agree. Still, it's the very start of the season and we shouldn't judge a book by its cover — these teams might surprise us in interesting, nuanced ways, although the odds of that happening definitely aren't great. (to say the least)
All in all, it's fair to consider this match-up as a clash of two bottom-tier dwellers. There's just no other way of phrasing it. Still, competitive play is never a binary thing -- it's not "good" or "bad" but rather a wide-ranging spectrum between greatness and absolute, gut-wrenching mediocrity. We've yet to see these two teams in action so it's still impossible to fairly judge and assess their power level. We know they're not great, but just how bad they truly are still remains to be seen.
We're still a couple of years removed from Vancouver Titans' mind-blowing, dominant run and yet we're as baffled as ever to see them ranked this low. Oh how the mighty have fallen — this is the very definition of a "fall from grace." But that's all in the past, and we really have to adjust our expectations. For 2021, it's best not to expect anything in particular from these two "challengers". As, well, they're probably not going to deliver.
With all of that said, you're probably aware that there's no possibility whatsoever of predicting the outcome of this particular clash with confidence. It's simply impossible — they're both mediocre in equal measure. And we really cannot know at this point in time which team has a better read on the meta and just how prepared they truly are. It's all up in the air, but we'll side with Toronto on this one as they have the better players and should therefore, in theory, have an edge over Vancouver in this anti-climactic clash of bottom-tier dwellers.
