Washington Justice vs Florida Mayhem

This is where things get a bit more complicated. We're talking about two middle of the pack teams that have done very little to earn our benefit of the doubt. They're talented, there's no doubt about it, but that means very little if they cannot perform and execute when it matters most.

Moreover, the sample size that's at our disposal is by no means substantial. Washington have the better record, but they've played fewer games and have had huge dips in performance throughout both May Melee and June Joust, so it's nigh impossible to fully assess and evaluate their power level. Much of the same goes for Florida as well — they've regressed quite a bit since May Melee (to put it mildly), but we know what they're capable of and are as confused as everyone else at just how quickly they fell off a cliff despite having all the right tools to compete with the who's who of the Overwatch League.

Be that as it may, it's hard not to lean towards Washington on this one. We're not doing so with any supreme amount of confidence, but they have a bit more hype behind their backs and haven't lost nearly as much lately, so their confidence probably didn't take as big of a hit when compared to Florida.

They've lost to the Toronto Defiant (2-3), the Boston uprising (an 0-3, no less), and the Dallas Fuel (2-3), so it's impossible not to consider them as one of the worst-performing teams in the Western conference. Washington, on the other hand, had only lost to Atlanta, but that was to be expected — the Reign are currently the second- or third-best team in their region, so there's no shame in Washington inability to register a win.

In the end, we'll side with the Justice on this one and hope for the best. They have the tools to win, there's no doubt about it, but whether they'll be able to get on the same page and execute still remains to be seen.
